As a professional wine maker I have purchased equipment from companies in Michigan, California, New York, Ohio and Texas and have had pleasant and profitable experiences with all save ONE!
After purchasing 6 wine tanks (3 each on 2 separate occasions) I had reason to complain about the first 3 tanks that I purchased. The floating lids were not the same on the first and second batches of tanks purchased and the lids from the first purchase were not as thick and warped when under pressure from inflation of the gasket.
The lids on the second three tanks were about twice the thickness and did not warp. Obviously there had been problems with these tanks and the design had been modified to correct this issue.
When I complained that the tank lids were warped (to Chantal . . . wife of the owner I believe) I was told that there was no problem other than that I had carelessly damaged these lids myself. End of story.
My end of story is that I no longer consider G.W. Kent as a source for wine equipment because of one thing alone . . . their lack of quality customer assistance in response to a problem. Kent apparently believes that the customer is NEVER right. I have ordered large winery equipment from others with the largest equipment coming from St. Patrick's of Texas. Never a problem . . . with the equipment OR with their customer service. Besides that, the tanks I just purchased (identical as those from G.W. Kent) were $300 apiece cheaper.
You can make your own choice. Caveat emptor!
